My first job was also in a Japanese-based MNC after completing my studies in Electro-Mechanical Engineering. Through the course of my work, I met a Service Engineer whom was at that time working for Panasonic. Through him I was given the opportunity to apply for an Engineering position in Panasonic back in year 1991. Nearing thirty years since I started my career here in Panasonic, I must admit that one of the pull factors that kept me rooted here with the company is the excellent work-life balance for employees. Over the years, company has organized various activities including overseas tours (whereby invitation was also extended to family members), wellness programs and educational talks to enrich our knowledge besides work! There used to be a football field within our company premises and I was one of those active employees who enjoyed playing football with my colleagues after working hours. And given my role, I was given ample opportunities to travel and widen my working horizon and experiential learning. Personally, I am also thankful to my wife for being supportive of my career despite my business travels.

The introduction of Flexi Work Arrangements was a bonus for me as it enables me to cater dedicated schedule to send my children to school before heading to work. The company’s recent launch of ‘Blue-Sky Friday’ was also a good initiative which I am indeed grateful for as I could have the opportunity to end my work earlier and fulfil my responsibility to fetch my wife from her workplace and thereafter be able to spend more quality time with my family.

Over the years, I am thankful to be exposed to different rotational roles every five years as part of my career progression. As I embark on each new role, I am being granted six months to acquire the working knowledge and was able to apply to my assigned work tasks confidently with quality results’ delivery!
